And we’re back folks. Sorry for the two-month delay. It’s been a crazy eight weeks, and blogging had to take a back seat. So what’s been going on? Well… I wrapped things up at the old job, trained my replacement, said my goodbyes, and headed for the proverbial door (I worked from home, so there wasn’t much of a door to exit). Oddly (or maybe perfectly normal) I haven’t missed or thought about my old job much at all. Not worried about how the quarter-end variances are shaping up or how the latest org change will affect me.
Literally, on my last day of work, I managed to catch a mystery illness which I still haven’t fully recovered from. It managed to beat me up pretty good and after countless vials of blood and endless tests, all of the bad stuff has been ruled out, and it looks like it was just a virus of some sort. Unfortunately, it has taken its toll on my immune system, and I managed to catch another little something which triggered my asthma for the first time in 15 years. All of this has made the transitions to being a SAHD life a little more interesting but has also sparked a new motivation to become healthier.
To make things a little more exciting, the SAHD Gods decided to throw me yet another curveball and had our A/C go out on the hottest week of the summer. Since it was a total failure of the system, we had to get a completely new unit, which of course took six hot days to get installed. We survived though, and things are nice and chilly now.
SAHD Life, 1 month in
Overall, I love it. I love spending time with my boys, getting outside and walking and adjusting to full time life at home. It took me a couple of weeks to establish a schedule and more importantly define what a successful day looks like. I’ve managed to conquer the grocery store with the double stroller, made it through a freak rainstorm while pushing the stroller across a parking lot, and survived my first couple of weeks with Mrs. FW traveling for work. All in all, I don’t regret a single part of the decision at this point. Aside from the medical hiccups, everything is off to a great start.
I know this is a short one, but I wanted to get something out there to let you know I’m still here. I plan to get back to regular weekly posts here on out
